Happy Holidays!

Wishing everyone a very merry holiday season! Waking up in Aspen this Christmas morning is totally refreshing...so excited for a week in the mountains with friends.Things have been crazy. I haven't had a free moment to post some of the holiday craziness that has ensued so I'm catching up now.  My life in the last few weeks...

1) Welcome Jimmy! I rescued a dog named Jimmy Choo (which I shortened to Jimmy) about a month ago. He's a two yr-old Italian Greyhound/Dachshund mix and the new love of my life. It took us a good 2 weeks to figure out our new 'situation' living together but he's doing great and we are having a blast.

2) Holiday parties, dinners, and more get togethers... I tried to see everyone this holiday season but I didn't even come close to getting time with everyone that is special to me.

My girlfriend planned a beautiful gala for the charity she works with. Shown here in Vera Wang gown, Christian Louboutin heels, and Dior ring.

3) Moving my office...a feat. Moving the week before Christmas is a little aggressive. Glad it's done!

Ultra Fun

This Saturday I ran my first 50K (31miles) which technically qualifies as an Ultra Marathon. So awesome! It was a trail run in the parks on Staten Island. Saturday was cold, dark, and muddy...nice. The trail was in okay shape given the destruction still apparent from the hurricane. Some spots had wood planks to balance on, deep muddy spots, and climbing over fallen tree trunks. I thought I was in the back of the group (like last...I saw no-one for some 10 miles) the first loop but going out for the second loop I started to realize I was actually closer to the front for the females. 3 gel's, 2 pretzels, a few goldfish, and a redbull later I was rolling into the finish line feeling pretty good! I came in third for the females which made me laugh as I was totally not expecting that!

Yay I finished!

The course...

I'm not going to lie it was a little freaky at times all alone in the woods...

LOL-can you believe this! I got a trophy!!

Feeling good...SO looking forward to a hot coffee and movies in bed post-run.

Merry Festivus!

I love the holidays! This year I'm really feeling the holiday spirit and I wanted to share some of my favorite things for the season...

I found these reclaimed drift wood wreaths at Restoration Hardware! I love them...organic, neutral colored, and festive. I wrapped a wire of LED lights around it for a little sparkle. Heart.

Every year I get SUPER excited for Trader Joe's to bring out the holiday tea. The Candy Cane Green and Vanilla, Cinnamon Black teas are so tasty, it's a must for the holidays.

Last weekend I attempted vegan Butternut Squash Bread and it turned out really good! Spelt flour, stevia, sesame oil, butternut squash, vanilla, cinnamon, molasses, and maple syrup. The recipe is here (modified to what I had on hand):http://kirstenskitchen.blogspot.com/2012/01/butternut-squash-loaf-or-muffins.html

The easiest way to cook butternut squash is to stab a few holes and stick it in the microwave for 5 minutes!

Bulky sweaters!! I picked this one up at Alexander Wang...obsession. It's big, cozy, and perfect for lounging around.

I can be serious...

Channeling my inner ballerina in a bun and red lips this weekend. Great draping on this Rag and Bone blouse with Chanel necklace and earings.

Three other options from Helmut Lang! http://www.helmutlang.com/

I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend with friends and family! I spent mine keeping active which was peeerfect. A double soul cycle, bikram, and extra long run Saturday paired with some awesome food was a very happy thanksgiving for the Phipps house. Wishing everyone a happy holiday season.

Have Your Kicks

As most of my friends and family already know, I signed up to run my first Ultra Marathon (53 miles) back in June. Well it's time...I'm starting in on 16 weeks of more intense training and that has made me one busy girl! I stumbled upon Nike's website for a new pair of kicks and did the 'Create Your Own' pair! I FINALLY got them and totally LOVE my creation! How fun to completely customize your kicks...thanks Nike.

All black with a neon green swoosh!

Post Sandy

Things are returning to normal here in the city but there are people still without power that need help! There are so many ways to help, visit nyc.gov to get more information.  Another great site to donate to is Brooklyn Community Foundation:

This was the view from my apartment on the night of the storm.

The flooding starts...

Getting covered...it was totally under water 20 minutes later.

Walking down the street in Tribeca at night in the pitch dark!

Prepping for Sandy!

I spent the day prepping for Hurricane Sandy which involved navigating the masses at Whole Foods, hitting up the Hardware store (I've never owned a flashlight), and getting my last outdoor run in for a couple of days. People in lower Manhattan are going crazy and my building is officially closed until the storm has passed. NUTS!

Layering up for a windy Sunday in my new Goorin Bros hat, Rag and Bone blazer, Splendid shirt, Zara scarf, Celine bag, Rag and Bone jeans, and EasySpirit (not a typo...easy spirit as in the most comfortable boots known to man).

Goorin Bros awesome shop on Bleecker!

If you haven't heard about www.105looks.com yet...then you need to check it out! It's a website dedicated to all things beauty. They will set you up with a (free) personal beauty stylist that does a review of your beauty regime, style, make-up, etc. Then the stylist will make recommendations (should you want them) and order any replacement products you need. Everything will come nicely packaged within a few days in a little black box...like Christmas, only better. :) The package has a product guide which tells you about all of the products and a return label for anything you don't like or want to keep. It's a totally free service and they carry every brand so you can essentially get everything in one stop...no more department store, Sephora, durg store, and salon run around to get everything you use.  Tell me that's not great... ;)

Thank You Card...that's a nice touch. No, thank you!

Product Guide

Free Samples...yes please!!!

Celine Love

It was chilly last weekend in NYC...and I love it. I did the official closet switch out (that's a job) and I'm in full winter mode. Headed out to meet some girlfriends for dinner in meatpacking I decided to get a little dressed up. I haven't been out of the apartment much lately due to a lingering cold and some massive run's these final weeks before the NYC Marathon. Black DVF blouse, Helmut Lang waxed jeans, Prada pumps, and my new Celine bag. I was really bad one afternoon in Barney's and just HAD TO HAVE IT. Bad Tiffany. But I love it to death and I'm going to rock it all winter. ...I can always justify a new bag, always.

Ola Cabo!

I just got back from a 5 day adventure in Cabo for a good friends birthday. We had a great group and it was awesome to share laughs with new and old friends. My highlight was definitely boating and swimming in the warm water. OH and eating boatloads of Mexican food...:)
