Office Style

It's the summer and you're stuck at the office...freezing. :)

Ah, summer office dressing. So fun. You sweat to and from the office on the subway and once you get there you freeze all day from an overactive HVAC. This white dress from Helmet Lang was my perfect solution to spice up summer office style. The linen blazer from Club Monaco keeps me warm inside and easy to remove when I'm hot. Paired with buff Miu Miu heels, I'm ready for dinner and drinks out after work.

Neutral Territory

Headed out to dinner at Bazaar by Jose Andres I went for neutral territory in an airy Barbara Bui silk dress, Tan Helmut Lang leather jacket, and blush heels from Miu Miu.  This dress is so light yet has the most amazing beading on the front and is layered with a nude silk halter top slip underneath. Barbara Bui is great for a special find here and there. She does amazing boots, leather jackets, and special pieces like this silk dress.

Travel Tip: Don't Check. I refuse to check bags so literally everything has to fit in my Tumi carry-on. That said, I stick with one color palette when I travel. This way, I can mix and match everything I bring for different outfits without tons of pieces. One handbag, jacket, pair of heels, flats, sandals, and the same accessories will go with everything!

Linen Blazer + White Wash Shorts

Spending a lazy weekend in LA and the weather is pretty cool right now. Headed out for lunch and a movie at the Grove I picked these white wash shorts from Madewell and a Linen Beige Blazer from Club Monaco. I thought it would look cute with these Dolce Vita wedges that are SO comfortable, layered Helmet Lang tanks, Panerai Men's Watch, and Hermes Lindy Bag.

Happy Weekend! xo

NYC Tourist Weekend

This past weekend I was a New York tourist all over again exploring downtown New York. I stumbled upon an exhibit of Sol LeWitt structures in City Hall Park! They looked amazing in the urban park setting. Sol LeWitt was an American Artist (1928-2007) that became popular in the 60's with his minimalist 'structures.' Take the train downtown and check it out, it's in City Hall Park until this December.

Haha-tourist style. ;)

Later, I took the Ferry over to Governor's Island to meet up with some friends for a ride around the island and some snacks at Water Taxi Beach. How have I not been on Governor's Island before?! It's really awesome! You can rent a bike from Bike N'Roll and cruise around this car-free island. There are live bands, out-door trapeze school, Water Taxi Beach restaurant, and tons of open green space to throw a ball or have picnic. I will be coming back again for sure. What fun times!

Sunday Funday

I love New York. Strolling around Soho Sunday morning I stumbled upon a sample sale at Helmet Lang and Theyskens Theory. I mean REALLY...what's better than that on a Sunday morning. AND, I was one of the first people in the door with full access to sizes and organized racks. I was a little excited needless to say.

I wanted to share some of my loot with you. I had to hold back some of my excitement...because I could have cleaned the place out.

Jumpsuit Obsession

While in Venice I was on the Vaporetto (think subway on a water boat) one evening headed back to my hotel and the most fashionable women I've ever seen stepped on in this Missoni Jumpsuit that was AMAZING. Ever since, I can't get her...or her fabulous jumpsuit out of my head. Need to find. Fast.

Why are Italian women so hot?! French women are tres chic but the Italian women take the cake for being the most bombshell like. Always done up perfectly and eating pasta none-the-less. I need to introduce more bombshell into my life. Yep, I really need that jumpsuit. Done.

3.1 Philip Lim Lingerie

An amazing thing happens when a great ready-to-wear designer decides to do lingerie/sleep wear. Adorable, cozy, well-fitting pieces! I love all of the pieces in the 3.1 Philip Lim lingerie line and needed to share them with you asap. You can pick them up on Net-A-Porter.com or at Aloha Rag in NYC.

Vegan Cookie Monster

Today I was craving cookies so I decided to bake some vegan ones to satisfy the craving. I was doing recipe research from vegan blogs to find a recipe that not only was vegan but didn't use vegan butter or egg substitutes. I find both of these things weird...in fact, I find all substitute food odd.

Anyways, I found this recipe on The Caramel Cookie and decided to give it a whirl.  Of course I changed the ingredients a bit...see my list below.

Ingredients:

1 cup organic whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 cup organic coconut palm sugar
1/4 teaspoon sea salt (less if your salt is really salty like mine)
1/3 cup maple syrup
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 cup organic coconut oil
1/2 cup of non-dairy carob chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350.

In a large bowl mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Mix in the maple syrup, vanilla, carob chips, and oil. Stir until very well combined.

Bake for 8 minutes (for chewy not crispy cookies), being careful not to overbake them or they will dry out. Cook up to 11 minutes if you want them harder.

These were awesome and not too "bad" for you. No butter, refined sugar, eggs, real chocolate, or dairy products. Sometimes a girl just needs a cookie right? I actually ate 2 for breakfast...

Easy. Breezy. Done.

It's officially summer in the city. By that I mean we had our first few 90-plus degree days. I love how in NYC we get maybe 2 weeks of Spring and then it's just h-o-t! It's freezing one day and like 95, hot, and humid the next. Ahh New York. :) When the weather is sweltering it can mean only one style for me...hair up and easy breezy clothes. I mean seriously...how does one wear hair down in hot humid weather. Doesn't it turn into a frizzy, flat mess like mine?!!

Tonight I sported a Rag and Bone Mercer dress, Barney's silk/cotton tank underneath, YSL Tribute Sandals, Calypso bracelet, and Banana Republic bracelet. Easy. Breezy. Done.

I'm a huge fan of Rag and Bone and love their dresses for summer. Here are a couple of styles from this years collection.

Venezia Biennale

La Biennale is in full swing and I was there for the 54th Art Exhibition preview last week in Venice, Italy. It was very refreshing to see upcoming artists from countries around the world take part in such a cultural experience. La Biennale is a bi-annual cultural event that encompasses Art, Cinema (the famous International Film Festival), Architecture, Dance, Music, and Theater. The Art Exhibition features pavilions for participating countries showcasing some of their most promising talent. The art crowd was in full attendance and Venice was transformed into a cultural exhibit of it's own right.

Outside the America Pavilion Artist Allora & Calzadilla present Gloria; an Olympic Athlete powering a tank by running on a treadmill.

Now a trip to Venice can mean only one thing...strappy high heels (the higher the better), and a short colorful dress. Italian woman staples (think Missoni)...

Venice had exhibitions everywhere you went. These folks were floating on the side of the canal one morning!

For dinner at Gritti Palace on a warm night I sported a Yumi Kim Playsuit, Alaia Heels, and a Chanel Clutch. To top it off I wore bright red lipstick! However I'm missing the tan...

Ciao Venezia!

Leather Shorts = Oxymoron

Why leather shorts...?! Isn't the point of leather to keep you warm. Yeah I don't know...but I love them. Really anything leather. Leather just screams rocker and I think I'm always trying to dress more rough and edgy than I appear. Leather helps me in that area. :)

Maje Expo Leather Shorts at Net-A-Porter.com

These leather shorts are from Maje, a really cool French line that you can get on Net-A-Porter.com. Net-A-Porter.com is my go-to for on-line shopping. They have everything you can ever want to be oh-so-fabulous in the dressing department. I paired the leather with a black tee from T by Alexander Wang, gray sweater from Comme des Garcons, and black flip flops from Louis Vuitton.

Sleeveless Button Up

These little sleeveless button-up shirts are so cute for summer. Light and easy to wear with just about everything. I wore this one from Topshop with Mark Jacob Jean shorts, Comme des Garcons belt, and Rag and Bone Suede boots. I'd also wear it tucked-in with a long maxi skirt or tied in the front with bell bottoms!
