Natural Pharmacy

There is a great natural pharmacy in Brentwood called Pharmaca. Every time I'm in LA I stop in and can literally spend 2 hours walking around looking at supplements, vitamins, superfoods, natural beauty products, and all things eco-wonderful. I am obsessed (in a good way) with organic beauty brands and things to nourish my body. Here are some photo's from today's purchase.

The loot: Natural Crystal Lavender Deodorant, Pure Encapsulations Vitamin B Complex, Rainbow Light Woman's Multivitamin, Berry Green Supplement, Almond Glow Jasmine Oil, Vitamineral Green Supplement, Blueberry Acai Berry Gummy Pandas, Dark Chocolate Bar.

LA Tourist

Spending the holiday weekend in LA. Love it here. Wanted to throw a little NYC style in the mix so I wore these new Rag and Bone pants with a Something Else by Natalie Wood tank layered over a Arianne lace teddy, Rag and Bone Leather Jacket, and my sky-high Theyskens Theory Platforms.

These are cool. I like this height in a semi-comfortable platform style and they are perfect to carry me into fall. Thank you Theyskens.

The Lazy Scrapbooker

So if you're like me and LOVE scrapbooks but don't have the time or energy to make one, I've found your new creative medium. Picture Books from Blurb.com!! These are so easy to make (although time intensive for the perfectionist type) and the finished product looks like something I picked up at Taschen. Amazing.

All you do is download the design template from their website and go to town up-loading your pic's and creating your book. Can someone say wedding present... ;)

Coffee and Bell Bottoms

Headed out for a Coffee in J Brand Bell Bottoms, Max Studio Blazer, Vince Floral Tank, Celine Wedges, and a Comme des Garcons belt. This look is professional enough for work (on Friday!) and current at the same time. These bell bottom jeans are getting quite a bit of use...bell bottoms go with everything! AND...they make me feel skinny which needs no explaining. ;)

For a more fun look pair them with a flowy floral top like this one from Top Shop!

This is another pattern of the blouse I'm wearing above. Find it at TopShop UK!

4 Favorite Things!

1) Moleskine Notebook; I love to jot things down from time to time and I keep a purple moleskin notebook in my purse with a pen for any moment when I might be inspired! These pages are packed with wine tasting notes, quotes for upcoming wedding speeches, songs I want to remember, and 2011 goals.

2) La Mer Lip Balm; This is vanilla mint at it's finest. Perfect smell, flavor, and consistency.

3) Eminence Products...all of them! I am especially loving the Tropical Vanilla SPF 32 face lotion. Smells good enough to eat and SPF32 for my fair skin. Really though...check out Eminence's line of products. Everything is organic and chemical free and it really is the best I've found in skin care.

4) The Republic of Tea 'Get Clean;' Yep, I'm one of those people who carry tea in my purse...don't judge. :) This travel size tin is a detox tea that is vanilla flavored and caffeine free. I always bring my own tea on plane rides so that I can ask for hot water and enjoy something yummy.

Farm Fresh in Sonoma

This weekend I was in San Francisco for some wine tasting out in Sonoma. I love San Francisco coming from NYC because it's SO CLEAN! This must be the cleanest city I've seen. I also love that in an hour drive you can be sitting porch side enjoying the most delicious organic farm fresh meal soaking in the sun. Heaven.

Wine tasting in Sonoma was beautiful and the sun was a welcome treat from rainy NYC. With the nice weather I decided to do a White on White ensemble mixed with a faded denim vest I got from J. Crew on-line. I'm loving vests right now! They give an extra little bit of warmth for spring in a fun and playful way.

Shopping in NYC

NYC is obviously a hot bed for awesome places to shop. My absolute favorite boutique however is Aloha Rag in West Soho. AR's buyers have one of the best eyes and picks up some of the coolest NYC appropriate pieces. The men and woman's selections are equally as good but things get snapped up quickly and more than often only teeny tiny sizes are left.

Ohhh goodies!!

For shoes Edon Manor in Tribeca is the best. They have hard to find Alaia and Givenchy must-have's but also less expensive finds like Kat Maconie. I go to the nail salon next door and can't resist a pop-in when I'm near by. They also stock different styles of Fogal tights (the BEST) and cool sunglasses.

Edon Manor

For eye glasses I adore Facial Index in Soho. It's a Japanese brand (say "quality") that hand carves plastic frames. They do all kinds of funky frames and they did my prescription in 24 hours! That's faster than a New York Minute!

For Lingerie (and this is my area of expertise) there is really only one...the luxurious, decadent, gorgeous, and sexy Kiki de Montparnasse. It's been a slight addiction ever since I stepped foot in the dark and mysterious Soho store 4 years ago. It's crazy expensive but I look out for the bi-annual sales where I try to "clean up." They also ran a sale on Gilt some time ago which was better than Christmas.

Frick Collection Spring Party for Fellows

Last Monday night was the Frick Collection Spring Party for Fellows. It was a gorgeous night and the Frick House looked amazing at night lit up! They had a live band in the garden, cocktails in the foyer, and dancing in the ballroom. Fun times at the Frick equals a classic black party outfit!

Dior Joaillarie!

My most favorite thing in the world is my cocktail ring from Dior. It was a very special gift from a very special person and I absolutely adore it. The exquisite craftsmanship and intricate designs behind Dior Joaillarie's fine jewelry are what make them so amazing. They are truly pieces of art in their own respect and an appropriate post in honor of the Contemporary Auctions this week!

Rose Dior Pre Catelan

Victoire de Castellane is the Creative Director of Dior Joaillarie and she has completely revived haute joaillerie for the house. Her new line "Fleurs d'exces" Flowers of excess will be just that! I was so surprised and delighted to receive roses and an invite to the unveiling of the collection from Dior this week. I will definitely be sharing photo's of some of the pieces afterwards!

Bubby's and other weekend outfits...

Happy Monday! This week is TOTALLY jammed but yet I'm so excited for everything coming up.

There is really nothing better than Bubby's for breakfast. The Egg's Florentine (substitute: egg whites scrambled, sauce on the side, and fruit vs. fries) and Sour Cream Pancakes are pretty hard to beat in NYC. I also highly recommend the iced coffee! It's just delicious. Expect to wait on the weekends unless you're Bubby's VIP and the service is never great...just a fair warning.

Mother's Day Tulip! So sweet.
Another great dress from the weekend was this olive 3.1 Phillip Lim crochet piece. It's super light, perfect for summer, and has the most gorgeous little nude slip underneath. I paired it with brown YSL Tribute sandals and a $10 scarf from a street vendor in Soho. I'll wear this more casually with gladiator sandals and a straw fedora as it get's warmer.

McQueen the Great

Today I went to the Alexander McQueen retrospective 'Savage Beauty' at the Met. The line and crowd was outrageous but I managed to snap a shot of the opening piece.

Alexander McQueen; VOSS, Spring/Summer 2001

The exhibit was inspiring, dark, and moving. It highlighted the late McQueen's impeccable tailoring and brilliant creativity. The pieces were darkly romantic with massive amounts of tulle, feathers, leather, bones, and beading twisted together into an exquisite piece of couture. Amazing. So sad to lose such a talented visionary.

Museum Nerd Chic
I picked a leather Vince dress to wear this weekend pairing the dress today with my white mason martin margiela "painter" sneakers and a brown Hermes Lindy bag. Perfect for a stop into Sotheby's to look at the up-coming pieces for the Contemporary and Modern Art auctions this week (Also incredible).

Dubbing these my "Pollock Shoes"

For a late lunch with MacKenzie on Saturday I chose a more polished Celine wedge with bangles from Banana Republic and Calipso.

Love these self shots...I really need a tripod!

Popcorn Craving...

Yep, it's about every few days when I get a popcorn craving. REAL BAD. I could eat popcorn as a main food group with almost every meal...it's that good. My FAVORITE is Popcorn Indiana Brand in Smoked Cheddar or Aged White Cheddar. It's simply amazing and not too unhealthy to boot.

However...I'm sorta a healthy fanatic so I'm going to make my homemade healthy version. It's vegan, gluten free, and packed full of vitamins. No, I'm not kidding. Maca Powder is a superfood and nutritional yeast is packed with amino acids and vitamins. Mmmm...enjoy.
To make: Pop one bag of unsalted popcorn, once popped spray with coconut oil and add 1 tbsp of maca powder, 1 tbsp of nutritional yeast, 1 tbsp agave syrup (drizzled on), and 1 tsp of finely milled sea salt. Stir it up and EAT!
